The task of designing your own website nowadays is easier than ever before with the availability of PC or online website design programs. However, how many of these free website builders can provide real quality with easy to use WYSYWG (What You See Is What You Get) functionality.
It wasn't so long ago that you needed a webmaster’s degree to be able to build a professional looking website or you would have to pay someone big money to build it for you.
Today, fortunately, it is a different story. There is a very comprehensive range of web design programs on the market most of them have a price tag but advertise as free and are really only available on a free trial. Free trial version, of course, have limited functionality compared to the purchased version. I did find that one of these programs was superb and I will talk about this program in my next article.
For now I will talk about the free website builders that I looked at with regard to what they had to offer somebody like me who has little or no knowledge of website building. Many of them came as an incentive to buy web hosting so it was not possible to try them with out a purchase although I did try a couple of the better ones.
I was very impressed and, in fact, they compared favourably to the some of the programs with price tags. If you need Web hosting also out the two free website builders, Yahoo’s is pretty good but the hosting is a little pricey. It is quite user friendly, even if you are a complete non techie like me. With this program I was able to build the small professional looking websites that I needed to start my business. I didn't have any technical issues through out the whole process and publishing and maintaining them has been completely hassle free.
Finally, I looked at a number of truly, free website builders, although practically all of them came as an incentive to buy other products, but never the less where really free, no strings.
Many of them left a lot to be desired in terms of performance and functionality. Those that were quite good, unfortunately for me, required a little bit of technical knowledge and a good grasp of HTML. So that put me well and truly out of the equation.
I Have since tried out most of the new website builders and the many new free services now available on the market, some of them excellent especially for beginners. You can find out more and read my reviews at my new website for free website builders, see you there.
